Arrangements can clearly change a songs appearance...

This is one of the things i love most about arrangers, changing the whole feel of a song by creating a new arrangement (using styles)

personally I thought this was way over produced takes away from the original S&G version which I love.

Original is original. As a cover version it is really brilliant, but I think it only works because the original was there before and is in your conscience. Actually the most brilliant part is the composition itself.

Listened to just the song and for me it fell well short of the original. I then listened with the video and it lifted up much more, however I still preferred the original.

Adding video to a song always adds an extra dimension, however most early recordings (Pre 80s) didn’t have pro produced videos, therefore you are not comparing like with like, which can make a big difference.
