I have not SD7 however I have Korg Pa3x, and Ketron Audya... The SD7 is a micro/Audya.... The Pa3x its a very good keyboard with too more possibilities than Audya/SD7.... However the sound quality and the realism of styles (Audio Styles) of Audya and SD7 also (for me) is too far superior than Pa3x.... Its my opinion...

I respect your opinion, and I agree that the edge does go to Ketron, but I wouldn't say it's FAR superior. It's a "little" better ... in some ways. Ketron and Korg are my choices for realistic drums and bass over everything else out there. (Don't even bother, Fran. We know... we know.) I also respect your opinion....

Offcourse i am aware of the style and sound quallity of the SD7... playing the Ketron instruments is somehow more immersive...
Whats currently witholding us from the SD7 compared to the PA3x is the following
-There are no pads on it.. Pads are the most imp0rtant tool, i use to spice up my styles and make them more dynamic... Using midi phrases with extra drum or riffs on top of a style, is incredible.. -The available pa3x is 76 keys -You can not load samples/new sounds -the pa3x is 200 euro cheaper, and does not require stretching the budget as much, its just slightly over budget
Its still hard to choose between sound and functionallity, because the pa3x also sounds very very good.
Maybe my biggest problem is that i am looking from my own view, and not from my nefews view... The reason we move up from the G70 is the fact that they just have a hard time with the file management, no way to upload new sounds, hard to select user styles.. seems some of the old ways dont very much apeal to the current tablet generation. Bachus, don't forget the G70 has an expansion board option..and you have 10 locations in each category to save your User styles..thus selection is just like presets..

But then those board are still expensive and hard to come by these days, but an expansion board only allows one kind of sounds..... Being able to add your own samples, gives much much more freedom... And yes there are 10 locations to save userstyles in each subcategory... Which feels more like a limitation in this age with thousands of great styles around.... I have come to the conclusion that the G70 was a great instrument to get these teens enthousiast about making music, but they indicated that they want to move on to something more akin what their uncle has... And since my sister started playing again herself, they are willing to invest in a more advanced arranger workstation and combine that with a stage piano... Still i think the G70 is a perfect key for starters, it offers a lot out of the box. So i hope we will find a new home for it soon...
