Hi
sitting having brekkie this morning listening to a local radio station,
Up comes my favourite Simon & Garfunkal tune Sounds of Silence, it's not them though.
Sort of starts off a tad ho hum,but keep listening.
Madly scrambled to find out who it was. They never tell you on the radio, really bugs me.

Found this clip.

Turns out the guys a heavy metal singer.

Hi Donny,
It's possible, I hadn't been around.

It's just such a fantastic version.

Yeah, I had someone send that to me a while ago, as well. It's not an improvement on the original, by any means. His energy is too angry and dark for me.
It's like many sequels/covers ... better left UNdone.

The only way to redo a classic is a totally different rendition....Pulled it off...The anger does fit too....

The 60's was angry...

"The people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made"....Should be angry....

Awesome remake

Hi Steve
that's what I luved about it too, the anger does suit the lyrics and the era.

If I remember correctly, quite a few of the great hits out of the 60's were protest songs.

I don't know about any anger issues in the 1960s. I got married in 1962, we struggled on our meager salaries, but we made enough to eventually purchase a home in the suburbs of Baltimore, a tiny 3-bedroom rancher on a 1/4 acre lot. I worked long, hard hours at the University of Maryland Hospital and U of M Shock Trauma Unit, my wife was a stay at home mom, which is rare these days, and the only thing bad that I can remember were the riots in Baltimore when Martin Luther King was assassinated and part of the inner city was burned to the ground. I moved to Spokane, Washington right after the riots, mainly because I wanted to raise my children in a better environment than the Baltimore metropolitan area. It was the most beautiful city in the United States from my perspective.

After three years, we returned to Maryland, I went to work at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in 1970, as technical director of the Cardio Pulmonary Division. After 5 years, I burned out, went back to playing music and opened a fishing tackle shop in the town of Forest Hill. No anger issues then, either.

I guess I'm just too happy of a person, wink
