The first melotron...

Later versions became quite popular, altough i dont think those had the rythm part, just the sound part...Melotron strings are still sampled in many many of todays keyboards..

I have played a Melletron. They require a particular style of playing because when you sustain the part like for strings, the piece of tape comes to an end. It doesn't loop so you have to release the key again so the spring auto rewinds the tape to the start again.
