Family were present at a gig I did today.

One person in particular reminisced about her family and songs we were doing. She had just placed her mother at this facility.

Her mother, still a beautiful lady despite her years, was present in a wheelchair. The daughter, and her mother along with another sister, had been a trio years past. The mother sang out as best she could and the daughter with her.

When the two sang together, on a song that I was leading, there were tears from that daughter, remembering the past.

Truth is, at that point, I was remembering my own mother, very musical, and found myself fighting tears.

Particular songs can lead to chills and emotions for sure. A beautiful melody and slick chord changes get to me all the time. Lyrics don’t grab me. But, the music sure does.

“Truth is, at that point, I was remembering my own mother, very musical, and found myself fighting tears”.

I’m happy that you can still have those feelings; most people bury their feelings to avoid the pain.

PS, years ago I said, "Music makes you feel good". My friend corrected me and said, "No John music makes you feel"....
