Tony Barbetta told me that keyboards sound best on 10" speakers and I tend to agree. The organs we sold including the very most expensive used 10" speakers and they sounded rich.

When I was testing out tons of speakers using my PSR2000 at the time I found that outside of a Roland 15" amp which sounded great but weighed a ton that the 10's sounded best among all brands and that the larger the speaker, the more crud was in the sound.

Anyway, it's one of those if it ain't broke don't fix it kind of things.

But, what do you mean about carrying three things? Or, are you referring to using the Logitech with it?

I did mix my Eon's with my z5500 Logitech and it did sound rich, but too much to haul and not really needed. The z5500 really didn't sound that good to me alone BTW.

Tony Barbetta build some great speakers. I hate several sets of them. He was most likely referring to keyboards--such as synths, pianos, Rhodes, organs.
I consider my "sound" a full band, or combo. It consists of bass guitar, lead instruments, drums, and vocals. The fact that it is generated by a keyboard doesn't matter. I still need amplification for a full band!
Not so long ago, it was essential to use big speakers if you wanted really great bass. Not so any more! Technology moves on and you can get great bass from smaller speakers, and still cover a lot of area with them. I've been happy with 10s, 12s, and even 8s sometimes. As a matter of fact I can get great bass from my headphones! It just isn't very loud except for the wearer.
It all depends on the size of the venue you want to cover!

I was told the same thing --- you get warmer sound and more bass with a 10” speaker. Hard to understand.

I used a fender twin reverb amp. for my guitar – 2 12” speakers. The fender reverb (Name) had 2 10” speakers; again warmer with more bass – but not as loud.

PS, The three pieces I referred to were two Eon G2 speakers and a mixer. I was using a Kn7000 at that time.

The frequencies output by a 10" speakers don't have the extreme bottom of a 15" or 18" speaker but it is in the range where it sounds very warm and very punchy and that sounds very musical. Most bass players nowadays prefer 4 x 10" cabinets.

Probably you already have read reviews on some of the current models by Logitech. It seems none of them is good enough to replace the z2300. Your thread and responses from others prompted me to look for better satellite speakers for my Z2300 and I stumbled upon the Creative GigaWorks T20. Only $89 and lots of great reviews. The system pumps out enough bass and you don't need a subwoofer, I read. I thought I could use the T20 for travel, and I compared it with the iLoud Micro. Still, I am leaning toward the iLoud Micro. I uderstand that you specifically asked about the current Logitech model good enough to replace the z2300. I don't know exactly what your needs are, but have you considered the iLoud Micro?

Bachus I remember wanting to step up from the Z2300 – always looking to grow. I bought the Z5500. Bigger speakers, more power but not as good. If I remember correctly they were trying to create an upgrade for the Z2300 but people were satisfied with the Z2300.

I posted a picture of the Z2300 with Bose satellite speakers; it was a bad match so I went back to the original speakers.

The only way to improve my sound was spend a lot more. I remember the Yamaha small powered speakers they were using with the organs; they were good – they were $295 (one unit) years ago.

The Pa4x was many dollars – it is a shame to use speakers; even if it is at home; that do not bring the quality of the instrument.

Yes, i read those reviews...

Sadly none of the reviews on the Z623 and the latest Z625 seemed very much concerned about the loss for music capacity... most of these reviews are only about using them for games and movies... So i hoped to get some hands on experience from a musician overhere on the forums

I am in the market now for some used Z2300 speakers.. When i can find one near my home, i will buy... they sell for about €50 most in mint condition, so it should be money very well spend..

A friend of mine will be picking them up... he will be in town in 2 weeks, ... so dont even have to use the post office..
