Met a new friend...an accordion player...mid 70's maybe. He is very good on the accordion but also owns an older Ketron, an XD9 and a Yamaha PSR3000.

We jammed away the afternoon today. He on his accordion and me on his XD9. Fun. I played the PSR3000'a bit as well.

The XD9 has some nice styles and voices for an older keyboard. Very nice sound overall coming from the on board speakers.

But what I was most impressed with was the XD9 feel and action....definitely a step above.
It would be fun to play a newer Ketron some day.

I'm new to arrangers within the past 6 years or so.

But one thing is starting to stand out for me in regards to Yamaha PSR arrangers(PSR 710, 750, 950, now 970 I own)...voices and styles are good. However, keyboard action is toylike.

As I mentioned, I played a PSR3000 today and own the PSR S970. After playing that Ketron and Korg PA 4....PSR's feel more toylike...as I've said.

My Tyros 4 had a nice keybed feel.

If someone like me with little experience can feel a difference, how do others with years of experience feel?

maybe the new KTERON SD9 will be your dream arranger next?

Some people prepare lighter keys... almost toylike...

I think its the less advanced players like you and me that take to a heavier keyaction much more, as that seems to give us more controll over our performance..

i stay away from the ultra light keybeds of the psr-s keyboards

however many others here just dont seem to mind it, and even prefer it for getting less fatigue during long playing sessions.

In the end i guess its more about what you are used to, as long as you only play the psr-s keybed, you will not notice how incredibly light the touch is.

I agree, the psr keys don't feel as nice as the Tyros or Audya. But I can adapt just fine. I'm not playing any Rachmaninoff, just just popular songs. I use my arranger keyboard to back up my vocals , leads and simple improvisations. If I were a virtuoso , I probably wouldn't be playing an arranger keyboard.

Keyfeel is a very p[ersonal choice for each player.....
I prefer a light touch......
What's next hammer graded accordion keybeds? just sayin

You don't have to get paid to tell others in something you believe in and own.
I own two Ketron SD7s and it is without any reservations THE BEST KEYBOARD I HAVE EVER OWNED! To put this in perspective, I started with the PSR3000, then Tyros 3, then Tyros 4, Also Roland E50 and E80, also korg PA1x Pa2X-Pro, and the PA4X. I have gigged with all of them. Without a doubt the SD7 far surpasses these keyboards in what I need for my gigs and what my audiences are telling me is the best sound they have heard from me.

So, like the other poster, I too will recommend to others to take a serious look at the SD7. I can't speak for the SD9-Pro because i don't own one.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents worth.
