I'm thinking about a PAAS for my 4X. I would primarily use it as a home monitor, however I'm also wondering if it would be loud enough to use in a living room with around 8 people. Periodically my wife does a small group of folks who sing, unamplified.

Also I'm wondering if it will work when I'm using an external amp.

Thoughts?

Hi,
For a small gathering of about 8 people it would be terrific. The sound is very good. If you wish to attach an external speaker you can still have it on. If you wish to just use the external speaker, go to Audio and turn off the PAAS.

Hi. A novel idea, but very limited, IMO. I've tried this bar several times over the years.

1. Any mic I tried will feed back
2. Very limited bass range
3. Very low overall volume
4. Expensive vs a nice stereo PA system

Just my thoughts.

I know what you are going for... I would love to have a low profile speaker solution for the very small gigs. But I still want the sound I get through my studio monitors. The PAAS just seems like too much money invested vs the benefits. Now, if you find one for $200... then go for it!!

There are some decent-sounding 2.1 sound bars in the $200 range; I even have one with built-in sub (1 piece). Wonder if that would work?

I have compared this bar many times at various demo shows, (Where you can try them out) and the PAAS is like the speakers Yamaha try and sell with the Tyros series, abysmal, and should be avoided at all costs, as it will castrate the sound that the PA4x is capable of. (Same applies to the Tyros series speakers from Yamaha)
If you must have a sound bar, there are plenty on the market that will put the PAAS in the shade, (Try a few out) however, if possible, go for 2 separate active speakers as you will get much better sound and value.
Hope this helps
Bill
