For the money it really sounds good, I wish the sample would be more then 128? anyone have an idea?

I have one but keep in mind I just use it at home and am primarily a bass and guitar player.

The sounds are very good IMO. A bit of a learning curve for someone like me, I had a BK-3 before which was dead simple. I wish they had included a data wheel-there is a work around with another knob for some things though. I wish Roland would provide some content for the sampler. That way you wouldn't have to be an expert to have say a top notch piano or drum kit. Also wish they had provided a simple sequencer although I admit to not using them much. Only 100 performances but I'll never exceed that anyway. A lot to like, for me I probably should have bought an open box BK-5 and saved some money, but I wanted the latest model.

I dont know what you mean with sample is 128?

If you mean polyphony, its 128 which is the same as all other high end arranger keys except ofr audya ..

If you mean the number of samples you are wrong there are much much more (multi)samples then 128 on board..



The ea-7 is currently the best selling board worldwide, there is a reason for this...

He is referring to sample memory,,, 128 mb...
Sample size is 2,048 samples..

Sample memory is on the light side, although it does not seem to present problems..

Most highend boards with sampling max out at 256mb or 512mb.

Bill, there are 16bit 44.1 waves on the net, that you can download free..

The Bk5 is not a lot better than your BK3.... compared to the E-A7...the new board is far superior... You made the right choice..

As you learn more about the E-A7 you will appreciate it..

Compared to the competition ram space indeed is rather small


Yamaha ps-s970 has 500 MB
Korg pa-900 (soon to be replaced) has 192 MB
Casio MZ-X500 has 256 MB

The high end is far out of sight tough
tyros5 has up to 2GB
Korg PA4x has up to 800MB where i am still hoping for user sample streaming when tyros 6 is released..


But then for Roland, adding sample ram to an arranger is a first step... espescially when you consider non of their other high keyboards (jupiter80, fa series, DS series, integra nor the BK series or even the G70) have this option..

And while Roland does not offer sound sets, the system is so open you can create almost anything you want... and thats something the younger more creative vrowd of asian arranger players really welcomes... this also pushes the sale of the ea7 in those regions.


But ask yourself who of the traditional arranger players is going to create their own sample sets?

Yes, I agree with you that I need to put more time into it. And the sounds are better which is the main reason I got it.
