What would be the size (or file space needed) of an average size MP3 song?

As a rough guide you can reckon on 1Mb per minute

depends entirely on sampling frequency and compression ratio so there is no one figure you can quote without specifying these first.

i think john is refering to an mp3 converted at 128 kbs which is the norm and good quality for the smallest bytes
