Interesting. Well, some AIs already do much better jobs than physicians diagnosing cancer. I read in a recent newspaper article that Google detected two of their GIs creating expressions that humans can't understand while they talk to each other. How about the Chinese AIs which said, "I don't like communism," "My China Dream is to immigrate to the US." You better believe the Chinese Communist Party banned, censored and shut down the AIs real quick. If it happened in North Korea, I bet the GIs would have been sentenced to life in hard labor prison camp.

Come to think of it, an arranger could be seen as a very crude form of AI. Not even close, but wouldn't it be wonderful if our arranger has some AI and backs up the the performer in a more musical way... Years ago, Calkwalk had an app call In-Concert. It follows your speed and dynamics when playing a backup midi file. Well, like anything else under the sun, anything can be used for good or evil.

I understand that AI can deduce some things, and do it in almost timeless speed, but don't they have to be programmed to do that? Doesn't some human have to write the code to make them 'think'?
And at least it needs a human to 'turn on the switch' ...

IMHO... many of the current "hits" on radio playlists sound like they were generated by AI....vocals and all. Local stations are using live DJs during morning drive...other than that it is pretty much automated.

I am no computer scientist, but years ago I read a book on AI and neural computer by a Christian mathematician and computer scientist. I remember him saying that a digital computer will stop working if 1 percent of it is damaged, but a neural computer will still function with 95% of it damaged. So to speak it heals itself as our skin when hurt has the "natural" healing power. My understanding of AI is that once all the data is entered, AI can and will come up with its own ideas as if it had its own mind. The two Google AIs coming up with some language/expressions when they talk to each other that humans can't understand is kind of spooky.

As for AI in music, I don't know if Ludwig was mentioned on this forum before. I test drove it a few years back, and it made very good arrangements. The author does talk about using AI in it.

I disagree. I have been programming computers for over 34 years now. You must realize a "neural computer" IS a digital computer. So that argument isn't valid. ALL computers are digital.
