I recently changed my ISP sevice and have had some problems with some messages sent to me being rejected. The problem so far appears to lie with a very strict spam program that the ISP is using.
Please let me know (on the forum) if you have had a message rejected. So far, I only know about one forum member, John North, that couldn't get through.
If this happens to you, let me know because the ISP would like to find a solution to the problem.
The Best to All,
Walt

Walt, if you have filters set on your email to keep out spam, you should check with your isp provider to see if you need to have a senders email address in your address book for the message to get through. I have my Hotmail account set up this way to keep out spam and anyone who isn't on my email list. For anyone new, I simply add their email address. Works great this way!

Bud, No I am relying totally on the ISP. This is a brand new high speed service and is in the Beta phase and there are problems.
It is sporadic. Sometimes everything comes through and then the same sender will be blocked. They have examined the blocked mail and are working on fixing the problem - they agree it's all on their end.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Regards,
Walt

Hi Walt, I tried to reply to your email but it was returned to me as Blocked - Spam. Do you have an alternative email address?

Walt, you probably should consider getting something else, like Juno or Hotmail. They are both free and are usually problem free. I always register with my isp, but seldom use their mailbox because when they have problems, everything gets dumped, but with independents, your email keeps on collecting no matter what your isp does.

Bill & Bud,
I don't have an alternate address. It was shut off a couple of days ago.
We live in a small rural town in New Mexico and there are no access numbers without long distance charges to any of the big servers.
I'll give signalpeak some more time and then maybe I'll have to go one of the web based EMail accounts until they get their act together. I hate to do that because that means a couple of more address changes that we have to go through.
Right now I have found out that my ISP is blocking all messages from "open servers" such as Yahoo, Freeserve, ETC. The reason is that an open server means that anyone with the right software can utilize that server to broadcast spam all over the world. The software continually scans servers all over the world and when they find an open server, they dump spam through that server. When you get spam you have no idea who sent it or what route it took to get to you. I am told that most of it goes through open servers.
It is expected that more and more local servers will block open servers in the future in an effort to stop this form of spam delivery. What a pain!

I just signed up with Yahoo to use as an alternate EMail address until my regular ISP gets his ducks all in a row. If you get blocked at my regular address, use: musictutor2000@yahoo.com
I hope that this is temporary.
