Just for a backup, I would like to know that in case I had my Audya and the HD didn't kick in, if my SD40 would still work from the OS alone. I had an event years ago when my old HD would not load after the OS did. It would seem that midi configs are a part of the OS, but I could be wrong. I can't try it myself because the present SSD always workk but I want a backup without loading two boards.
