Hi there!
I'm pretty new to this, having acquired my new KN6500, e-mail and Internet all at once. I realise I am lagging behind everyone else, but unfortunately we South Africans are the last in line for new technology. The KN7000 actually IS available here, but at around fifty grand (in our money), I shall wait. Meanwhile I purchased the very last new KN6500 available in SA, having upgraded (?) from the KN5000. One thing that bugs me is the awful buzz of the speaker grille, when playing at high volume. I do a lot of orchestral sequencing and playing from scores, using big sounds (especially Brass and Cathedral Organ). My experience with the KN5000 is that it NEVER buzzed, even at full volume. Does anyone have a similar problem with their KN6500? I also own a PR700 Ensemble. Is there a separate forum for these instruments? Hope to hear from practically ANYONE soon.

It's probably due to the nature of the speaker grill - perforated metal, whereas, if my memory serves me correctly, the KN5000 was a moulded plastic grill. I seem to remember that there have been previous comments about this problem, on the forum. Do you have the option of using an external amp/speaker combination ? As far as I'm aware, this is the only active forum for all Technics Instruments, and I'm sure you will find someone else on this forum, who has or had a PR700. Have a look at this posting : http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum25/HTML/001777.html
Thanks for your welcome, Bill. I can see I am going to get a lot of useful advice out of this forum! Your memory fails you however: the KN5000 also has a metal grill, but a much better one. Because of this buzzing problem I am being forced to use my amplification system, which is a real schlepp sometimes! It's particularly annoying when I play at home; I refuse to set up two dirty great 1000w Wharfedale speakers in my music room! Oh well, can't have everything, but it would be nice...
