Being sentimental. Thinking I might be interested in a decent Roland G-70 for a reasonable price. Dust off the cobwebs and make a few bucks. Any leads?

no body says anything about a Suitcase Rhodes, DX7, or Hammond B3?......
that said the Roland G70 is a classic arranger for sure.... just sayin..

I recently sold some gear to allow me to use the G70 more often..

Set up on stage .. there is no other keyboard I prefer to play..

It lacks a media player, but my Android tablet covers that..

Everything else is top notch..


My first gig after a long absence with the G70... was the 30th of Dec..
A warm up for NYE..

I was in snowy freezing Wildwood .. like 6 degrees and windy..

Now the G70 weighs 46 pounds.... but in the Gator case and all pedals, mic, cords etc.... it is more like 86 pounds..

I pulled up to the stage door... locked... I had to carry the 86 pound thru snow to the other door.. another 100 feet away..

Dry surface and Rock n roller.. would have been no problem... but I was doing it manually..

Same situation at the end of the gig..

I did not enjoy the bull work.. Set up I was a happy camper..


Next day also in Wildwood and just as cold and windy.. I used my M-Audio Code61 with a laptop...
Again bull carry in a single trip about 200 feet away... but a lot lighter..

On stage was okay, but not the same..... I missed playing the G70..


What did I learn...
I want to play the G70..
I will always use the cart.. even for short distances..
Loading into my Buick will still be a pain.. but a necessity..

I can use the Code 61 and a laptop, for senior gigs... but I think I will lug the G70 instead..

Senior gigs tend to be shorter..so is it worth lugging the heavier keyboard, and maybe risking back injury, when you're not setup that long?

Cassp, think again and get rid of the Casio PX as I have done with my PX560 and look at the new Roland Juno DS 88, check out Youtube demos and you will be impressed with the great sound. It has split and layers facility as well as a sequencer and good drums.
The 88 keyboard version is 35 pounds weight, I have ordered one from Thomann in Germany plus a lightweight Gator case.
