I am still really enjoying the Roland EA7 in so many ways,.... I listened to Fran when I bought the unit and he said please give it a chance & you will be surprised at what it can do and whats inside. I'm so glad I listened as day by day in the last few months explored the OS & took the time to set it up for MY needs and was very happy with it's sounds, styles, features and all the attributes of this arranger KB which is flying under the radar for most people. Oh yes I sold my 2 KORG Pa4x units, & I could easily get a Genos or whatever, if this was the "OLD" me,.....but I have come to realize my past mistakes and anxieties overcoming my UNNEEDED buying & selling all the time addiction. I am not a gear junkie or hoarder never was,...if I don't use it its gone. It's really a disease that I am glad to be weaned off. If you just stop a minute ask your self do I really need this? what am I doing? what are my musical needs? look at all the useless gear stacked up in your room and say to yourself "REALLY?" hey everyone is different with different needs but there are many ways to make music. It took me a long while to find that out and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$. I now sit back and enjoy playing every day and can look at what others are buying, & what's coming out at Namm, Musicmesse, etc, etc, with a different outlook for my musical needs now. I am not saying I will never buy something down the road if I really need it, but for now I'm sitting pretty and see nothing new that gets me excited. BIG Lesson Learned.

That's a noble attitude Donny. Let's see if it stands the test of time . Of course do you realize that your 'epiphany' may not apply to everyone, right? For the record, I can personally identify with a lot of what you said; in my case, I realize(d) that the organ (ala Joey D./Jimmy Smith/etc.) is the only PERFORMING instrument I'm interested in, with everything else being more of a musical and technological curiosity. Because of that, I am MOST interested in the resurgence of various new 'clonewheels' coming to market. As for 'Arrangers', I find the people that 'love' them more interesting than the actual instruments themselves. Except for the contributions of a few people like Bachus, Abacus, and a few others, the gist, content, etc. of this forum is skewed much more towards people and personalities than towards music and music technology. There are many more posts about boats, health issues, lifestyles, who bought what (not WHY they bought it), kids and grandkids, etc., etc. etc, than about music. Nothing wrong with that; it's just that IMO this is as much (if not more) a social media forum as it is a music forum. Just my thoughts for the day . chas

Gary your not that old.... Heck my dad is 95 and going strong every day,... Enjoy every day my friend.... Play music too. Donny, I was hoping to be shot in the back of the head by a jealous husband while leaping from a second story window with my pants down around my ankles and a 19 year old girl screaming Gary, don't leave me. That just ain't gonna work out either. Unfortunately, while I was a 17 year old kid in the US Navy, I worked for two weeks in the Vent Gang, a $hit job where we removed old asbestos from steam pipes and replaced it with new asbestos wrapping and paste made from asbestos powder and water. Something like a plaster cast. We had no protection back then, no mask, respirator, etc... We inhaled huge quantities of asbestos dust into our lungs. Most of those guys that worked with me are dead from lung cancer. In my case, I have a terminal disease from the asbestos called pulmonary fibrosis. My lungs have taken on the texture of shoe leather and no longer have any elasticity. I now only have about 40 percent of my lung capacity remaining, and I'm now on oxygen 24/7. To get an idea of what this is like, place a clothes pin on your nose, then place a soda straw in your mouth and try to breathe through the straw while you climb the stairs of your home a few times. Now, I have led on Hell of a life. I've done things most people only dream of doing. I've traveled to more than 100 countries, sailed to the Florida Keys single-handed and got within 30 miles of the Bahamas when I realized that my passport had expired and hotfooted it back to Florida waters. I married a beautiful young girl, we had two beautiful children, both of which are now very successful adults with their own families. The best part of my life, however, centers around my musical career, especially when I began performing the senior circuit. I enjoyed every minute of being an entertainer and thought I would drop dead on stage. That, unfortunately, will never happen, but I can assure, my 77 years on the planet has been one Hell of a ride. Gary
