Wonder what he's playing ? A real Steinway or something digital threw those little hanging speakers. Love,to see his song list too.

The last couple of cruises we were on, the only time the piano bar was that empty was when it was closed ... this guy might have been just going through a couple of numbers ...
And the play list is made up by the audience ... they call out a tune and the guy plays it ...
And the pianos I saw were 5 - 6 foot grands ... But I don't think I saw a Steinway ...

Remember this old photo of me. I had my PSR-3000 set up just an inch above the piano keys. I actually tried playing that Steinway Grand a few times - made me glad I was an arranger keyboard player. Those keys were brutal.

I wish i had that amazing ability or is it memory to just take any request and play it. Luckily my "piano book" has a lot of the frequently requested songs in it but nothing very new "
I'd just like to know what is current now on thsoe cruise gigs.

Bill, it all depends upon the audiences. A good entertainer can look at the crowd and immediately determine what they want to hear. The technique I always adhered to is to determine their age, which at my age is becoming more and more difficult, then play the songs that were popular when they were 15 to 35 years of age - always worked very well for me. smile

Gary, the difference is that on these ships, the guy (and I have to say I've only seen guys working this gig) does not pick the play list ... the audience around the piano bar make the requests ... if the guy plays the request,he gets a tip ... if not, no tip ...
