Gary,.....it also pleasures the "PLAYER" in stereo performing thru monitors, on board or floor, or with speakers on both sides of you also. Me & the audience deserve the best sound you can produce. I will always be a STEREO player regardless.
I usually play in places where stereo is very feasible with no acoustic challenges. Someone posted here about a Harbinger 2.1 system on sale. It was dirt cheap at $350 but it came with cases, stands, and cables. I thought I was getting some "cheap enough to play in the rain" gear. However, at a gig I played my 88 key piano in stereo on the Harbinger, and I could not believe how smooth and good it sounded. It was very easy to set up, too Ever since then, I am sold on 2.1 systems both for mono and stereo. On most of these systems you can go either mono or stereo by the push of a button. One issue, though, it just didn't feel right when playing a $7,500 Roland digital accordion(I didn't pay that but other have done) through a $350 2.1 system. I didn't want to be penny wise but pound foolish. It was as if, "I got much more than what I paid for. To make it right, I bought a more expensive 2.1 system. There are a few good 2.1 systems out there; one made in England, but mine in Canada. Yorkville. It looks ugly in pics by the company (side looks), but it looks good in reality. I'm very happy with the sounds and its versatility. I don't think one needs to run a digital piano in stereo though some Yamaha stereo piano patches can sound really flat when summed up in mono. However, multiple instruments from an backup or an arranger sure can take advantage stereo - for the acoustic distance and dimensions multiple instruments need. When I was testing my Space Station 3 for its effectiveness as a pseudo stereo system, it really gave a sense of big acoustic space and dimensions to all the instruments from vArranger. With the Roland Integra 7, you can position each channel or instrument not only from L to R but also from back to front as if you are dealing with instruments in a symphony. As Donny said, sometimes I want my audience to get the same "sonic treatment' that I get in my home studio if the environment allows it.

Very interesting. I use the Space Station v3 and can attest to what you wrote. I am considering the new XL, but at 60 lbs I don't know how much is gained for venues of 50 to 150 people.

I saw the XL and an updated version of the SS3 at NAMM last year. The XL is a monster, but I'd say the SS3 with a bass amp or a sub would be more than enough for a crowd of 50 to 150. Still, I would prefer a 2.1 system. Easier to carry/set up with no need for a mixer. Years ago, I frequented this site because forum members were talking about the famous Z2300. Basically, it is a 2.1 system though not exactly for live performance, but many musicians were using the system or some replaced the satellites with better ones. Maui and other line-array systems are all good in their own ways, but I ain't carrying two of them for stereo. Just the fact two powered amps have to be plugged into AC turns me off. When I take a single amp, the Roland BA330 running on battery seems to work very well for me, but that's when I play my Roland digital accordion by itself. If I were driving an arranger, I'd definitely take a 2.1 system.

Since its a silent slab I would assume to get the best sound out of Genos at home or live on stage you would certainly always have to use two speakers in stereo or 3 w/a Sub, or headphones, to take full advantage of ALL of it's great sound & style attributes, nuances, effects, drums, etc,? Sounds like you should be getting a Genos. π I don't think after all the demos, reviews, listening, reading, etc, that the genos although good for some is an arranger KB I would buy for myself at this time. The EA7 is definitely a keeper. Will I add another KB at some point for what reason I don't have any idea?....but, it's a possibility. Like I said in a previous post and after owning more recently a, Ketron SD7, Yamaha S950, S970, Pa3x, Pa900, Two KORG Pa4x's I am not in a hurry. Please enjoy whatever it is your playing ....Take care.
