I’ve probably got 12 or more hours on the Genos since I got it. I’m loading up my gig songs.

Continuing thoughts...others chime in.

(1) Voices are great. I really like the guitars and pianos. There’s apparently an SA3 voice now.

(2) Styles are dynamic/rich. Country styles are super and with the stuff I play...big deal.

(3) Legacy stuff...styles/voices work well.

(4) Touch screen is smooth, effortless and BIG..love that. Easy to navigate.

(5) Assignable buttons, knobs and sliders make Genos really a flexible keyboard. It can be set up the way I want it.

Note: I had no clue how I would use the knobs above the sliders as all the videos I saw were Arpeggiator stuff. Then I saw that video from that fellow at Bonner’s. Voices/styles can be shaped in real time...this is good. For instance, I was playing a violin, had too much reverb...just made a quick adjustment on the fly with a knob. LOVE that feature.

(6) Voices/styles are pretty easy to edit and save. The system is pretty easy to follow, even for me.

(7) Playlist feature seems to work well...seems to be designed to be used much as setlist is used on PA4X. Songbook vs. registrations? Perhaps Songbook has the edge but then I’m used to using Yamaha registrations.

(8) Voices playing live...this is interesting to me. I’ll try to explain. When calling up a style to save for a song, three voices are also called up. These can be set to your favorite three voices...they stay the same regardless of style called up...i like this.

But if you want flexibility, then hit OTS(One Touch Setting). Now you have access to 12 Voices to use one at a time or in layers. Also OTS calls up multipad sets that are suggested for the style chosen..I like this.

(9) Keys/keybed. Genos keybed is actually better than my S970 and works well. I was too quick to judge first day.

Forum Support for Genos. This is no small thing. There is great support here but then there is also the PSR Tutorial forum.

This all for now. I’ll write more if requested. I still haven’t signed on the dotted line only because of the $$$...don’t know what my future gigging prospects are. But I sure love playing the Genos...I can’t seem to get enough of it. 😊

Good to hear it's going well to adapt the new stuff.
DonM would love pt. 1 and 2, but don't tell him .... wink laugh laugh laugh

I'm at the point of no return just by the look of this beauty.
If not any very very dissapointing show up in the next few days, G is gonna stay.
Next step will be to add MA's big brother, whatever name it gets. But that's a future move. wink

If you dig to deep into the G for much longer, you're going to regret and have nightmares if you return it. Bunch of $$$$ or not. crazy grin

IF I ever get out of this hospital, I'm going to Lufkin to play Don Patterson's Genos. However, it would be very hard to justify changing arrangers. Mine does everything I need, and my future as an entertainer may be limited.
But thanks for thinking about me!

Hi Guitpic,
Glad you are getting the hang of your new Genos.
I am still discovering so many new things and possibilities.
What do you mean by SA3 voice?
Not to my knowledge.
They added a third SA button though.
Regards
Eric

On the Korg the default settings for the 3 buttons are articulation, but they can readily be reprogrammed for nearly any function. Sometimes the 3rd button is not programmed, depending on the particular settings for the sound. Maybe this is the same for the Genos?

For each SA voice it might be a little different.
Hit a button then play a note. Not to hard though. Play a not, hit a button, then release the note.
That will show you what each button for each SA voice does.
For some voices only 2 buttons are lit.
Hope this helps.
Eric
