kozy..... I'm not sure just what info you are looking for, but the manufacturer can be found at www.keysoftservice.ch/ and you might get some info at www.keynotepublications.com .... as a 'gigging' musician, I feel the greater options of the hd sx-6, particularly alpha sort, makes it a better choice than the hd sx-3 ..... however, others on this site will no doubt give you other info as well ....

Hi!

I just bought an SX-3 from Technote before Christmas. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse: $399 US delivered. It was easy to install and came completely set up. The hard disk drive loads songs a LOT faster than the disk drive. I am very pleased with mine.

kozykeys .... as stated above, MUCH faster than floppies, and more reliable, easier to organize, eliminates handling, etc., AND, yes more expensive than other HDs .... I paid about $500 USD for the SX6 from the manufacturer ... as I said, I needed the alpha sort option ... you don't need to be too computer literate to use it, and you can store your files in many different ways through the use of 'Directories' ...I would also suggest the 'how to' book from Alec Pagida and Walt Tenay available at the keynote publications address shown in the post above.

Hi Kozykeys,

I, too, bought the SX-3 when Technote was running a special offer and paid, I believe, £199. I bought it for future use, so have not used it yet. The latest (Feb 2002)edition of Technote magazine contains a detailed article explaining how to use the SX-3 hard drive. I suggest you get a copy of the magazine if you buy the hard drive. Maybe Technote still has one or two drives on the shelf at the sale price? It is safe to say loading from a hard drive is much faster than loading from a floppy, but storage space is the single most important advantage of a hard drive in my opinion. I think the hard drive will store around 11,000 songs? Not sure, but how many floppies would you need to store that much information? Hundreds? That is the reason I bought a hard drive.

Howdy Chuck,
being my customary pedantic self may I just add:
11,520 files, 115,200 songs at 10 per sequencer theoretically.
enough to last anyone as long as they keep the board!

Thanks everyone for all your help.
I have been on the technote website and the only harddrive they seem to have is 'Hs6' or something like that and that costs nearly £500. Too much for me I have just bought the keyboard ,just as a thought why are they so expensive? when £80 will buy a 20gig hard drive for computer.

Howdy Alec,

Thanks for the greeting and for being pedantic. I like learning from you. The number "11,000" stuck in my mind for some reason. Don't know why my memory decided to store it and not the 115,200 number. A sign of old age? Guess so. I know the hard drive has more storage space than I'll ever use.
