Okay, not the safest topic to start, but I'm at least curious about this questionable policy of PSRTutorial.com.

The thing is that I've never been able even to read forums on that resource without using certain tools. They just say "Sorry Guest, you are banned from using this forum! This ban is not set to expire.". I presume, that they just block any Russian IP.

Using some methods I tried to create an account there, they chose not to allow me to have one. I understand they don't want some "outsiders" there who may somehow say something unpleasant.

To tell the truth, after reading here about some censorship on PSRTutorial, having my registration denied with no explanation and this policy of mysterious ban, which "is not set to expire" I'm not too eager to be approved there, but it still bugs me because I thought that this sort of discrimination was a bit unnatural in today's world.

Anyway, I see that lots of SZ members are active PSRTutorial members as well and I'd appreciate any comment to my observation and in case if I'm wrong in some way I hope to be corrected.

They have a mechanism that scans IP addresses for those that have been previously banned. If you don't have a Static IP address, it is quite possible for you, at least temporarily, to be on one that has been previously used and banned.

BTW, I tried to register on the forum and I've never received the link for confirmation in the email. No, it was not in the spam/trash bin.

I sent two emails to the email address that is displayed on the site, no answer.

Is it dead? Or is it invitation only?

DonM, you seem to be right; I’ve just managed to open it with my phone (with Wi-Fi turned off), so not the whole Russia is blocked. Nevertheless this ban I’ve been witnessing for a few years at least. Seems to be overprotective.

Still, it doesn’t look like new members are very welcome there, it’s been 4 months since I got their letter saying “Before you can login and start using the forum, your request will be reviewed and approved. When this happens, you will receive another email from this address.”, so far no another email has been received.

Well, I’m comfortable here smile

I know about a couple of fora that has been 'carpetbombed' by chinese, russian and eastern european 'visitors', most IP's adressed at Moscow, StPetesburg and Kiew.
Probably robots, and a lot is spreading gayporn.
To close the ports for IP blocks logged is one of the actions to keep it out.
Such 'attacs' also steal a lot of bandwidth as well as fill the threads with garabage that again make lot of work for mods and admin.

Kabinopus,

The PSR Tutorial forum would love to have you there contributing. There may be something wrong with the IP address, but I'm not sure what the reason behind you not being able to log on and create an account.

I have left a telephone message for Joe Waters to look into this, and I will email him and one of the moderators to do the same.

All the best,

Gary cool

It is very nice of you, Gary; generally I’m just perplexed about this screening process; democracy is quite a sensitive subject in Russia smile although, it’s never that simple after all...
