I recorded a song I played as a techics format. Then I wanted to save it as an SMF format, but read that I had to do a conversion of the APC or it would not convert to midi. So, I loaded the song into the sequencer, then I went in to do the APC conversion and saved it to disk. When I went back to play the disk, I didn't have any melody. I only had the background. What am I doing wrong? I read the manual, and it's over my head since it doesn't take me through it step by step. Please help me.

simply assign tracks to the pads and apc that have not been used for conductor parts, otherwise you risk overwriting your right and left playing, eg use 9 to 16.
then change the voice used in each track to a gm voice and save as smf.

you will need to play around with controllers to get a sound as good as the original.
