keyboard is Roland VK1000

I've had it open doing some simple mods and
replaced a few keys and springs, used some canned air to blow out some dust/hair!

I closed up the top cover --but did not screw
anything back together. WHen playing for the
first 15 minutes... the volume would drop to
very very low...then I would slide the volume up and down...then volume comes back.
Happened again but I decided to tap the keyboard (gravity check) and the volume went back to normal.

I'm not done. And have not screwed the keybaord outer case back together.
This actually screws down some metal clips which are attached to the keyboard rail and some of the components. Could this be a grounding issue and will not clear up until I completely screw the keyboard back together?

Common sense would say:

"screw the thing back together Andrew...and
see what happens. "

but I'm not done doing some more work and was curious.

Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have to screw it back together yet. Just ground it properly as it is now and see if the problem goes away. Should the problem persist, buy a new one. We live in a disposable world.
