I have since discovered that the reason I was unable to read the KN7000 files was that they were in a folder with other data. After moving KN6000 files to that same folder they also could not be seen.
After putting ONLY KNxxxx data files into a new folder, all files could be read. I've

that's why versions 80 and 84 could see 7000 format files fine.
