Wersi Sound demos played on an OAX organ have now been added to the main Wersi website http://www.wersi.net/sound-demos.html

Enjoy

SOUND-DEMOS

In the following demos are exclusively recorded live instruments with styles and sounds from the Basic range are used. It is only the internal OAX-recording function, and no sequencer or similar means are used. In many recordings for style fits deposited STS presets was used.

For the titles Sunny, Invitations and This Old House Styles are used, which were originally programmed for the YAMAHA Tyros and converted for these demos with existing in OAX system Batch Conversion function. When playing these styles the tone of the OAX-Systems are exclusively used.

Correct - There were some rumors "more" style support was coming but so far only the older T2 styles.

Mega voices have been in the Tyros range right from the beginning (They just increased in number as new models came out) and OAX (Or the OAA in OAS) have voices that emulate the Mega voices on-board, so providing they were in a T2 there is full support. (They had ACC after the name in the OAA for OAS)

Bill,

You need to educate me more on that. First, we know pretty much nothing about Yamaha. I think what you are saying is saying is its possible to map sounds in the style from whatever Yamaha intended it to be to some "Wersi sound"?

I do understand and know how to map or change sounds in a style. Not sure I know what the intended Yamaha sound was supposed to be though. For example, if they have an Alto Sax in the style with some articulations programmed on that voice, we can pick a Wersi Alto Sax but it may/may not have the same effects. T/F?

Hi Curt

I am making an assumption that OAX has the same setup as the OAA in OAS, but I would be surprised if it didn’t.

Bank 84 (In OAS) in the Sound list contained custom Wersi designed voices (Including Mega voice equivalents which had acc added at the end of the name) for Yamaha styles, and were used when a T2 style was loaded, (NOTE: the equivalent voices were only used if that type of sound was not available in the standard Wersi sound set) they were also used in Wersi styles designed for the OAA (.stw) including the revised factory styles. (Styles 2011)

Bank 84 was only available from the OAA style editor and was blocked from showing in other sound lists. (See if you can access Bank 84 in OAX as they should be the same as OAA in OAS)
NOTE: equivalent voices were only available for styles that were compatible with T1 & T2, which is why later styles T3-T5 will not load, as the correct voices are not available. (Style convertors to convert T3-T5 styles to the T2 format (It uses voice substitution) can be found here http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/)

Hope this helps

Bill

Bill,

I finally got around to checking into this. Sure enough, Bank 84 is in OAX and just as you mentioned the voice names end in "ACC." I ran across some of those voices at some point in the past but didn't pay much attention or realize there is a complete bank of sounds. I don't have any Yamaha instruments here to actually play a style and then listen to the same style in OAX using those voices so I guess I'll assume that they would work well for those styles. I was getting ready to dig up another 25 styles to release on our WersiClubUSA site. Maybe I should try and change a few of those and take a listen. That might make an interesting video for folks that want to adjust some of the instruments used in the imported styles and like me, were not aware of those voices. Let me put that on the "to-do" list - Thanks!
