Medicare just published a release that said that, when relying on payroll records, instead of self reporting, an additional 1400 nursing homes in the country were assigned a "1" rating ( 1 out of 5). That's the lowest you can get.

Seems that more than 10% have this lowest rating. They were lying about the number of hours Registered nurses were on the property.

When you exclude the "not for Profit" places, the number of terrible ratings is much higher than 10%.

The Government 5 point rating is the most reliable measure of performance in the field.

It's a national disaster....what a shame!

The results of the study don’t surprise me. I’ve performed in many NH in the DFW area and I seen very poor conditions and staff that seem to hate their jobs and that have no empathy for those that should caring for. I hope I never have send my parents or any loved to live in a nursing home!
