It appears to have been around for a while now. I'm wondering if any of you know anything about it?

Yamaha - Vocaloid

vocaloid.com

This is a pretty good rock song using the Vocaloid in Japanese....nice guitar riff too!

Donny.....the question was: "anyone familiar with Yamaha's Vocaloid?" NOT what do you think of this video?

But that's a pretty hypocritical statement from someone who always espouses "keep your mind open." 20 seconds doesn't equal an "open mind" in my book!

After watching some demo videos... I found the software interesting..

Prices were $225 for the standard version and $360 for the premium version.

The detail is very cool. You can actually develop a vocal track with harmony, that sounds real..

Listening to the original video for 20 seconds will never give you any idea what this software can do..

The average SZ member will never use this software, or use any DAW in detail.. but for those that like to use the computer / daw, It is worth checking out..

Fran as you couldn't in a very short while listen to Jennifer Hudson singing, I couldn't listen to whatever this so called vocaloid program is as even with an open mind said to myself its not for me that was the easy part thank goodness fro the on/off switch,....if you like it so much buy one and enjoy it. I stand by my decision with a smile..

update: ....after writing this I went back listened again to it and have the same feelings as before keep us posted after you get yours.

I have followed this software development for quite a while. It is pretty amazing how far they’ve come with it’s development.

From a recording stand point...you could hire a female singer and accomplish the end result in a fraction of the time without the artifacts present with the software version.

Where it shows promise is with it’s ability to create vocal textures with some verbal mimicking. If your willing to put in the copious amount of time needed to get the result your looking for.

I agree with you... Personally, I don't want to take the time it takes using software.. not just this software , but a lot of other software.. frown

Donny I bet this software could capture Hudson's screaming in detail grin
