Thanks, Donny: LOL! We needed that. Marketing 101 all over again! While watching the Xaphoon video, I was unable to see if it has mechanical fingering... or if only "recorder holes" for the player to use. If it is only a large plastic tube with a reed attachment clamp... the price seems ridiculous to me... but hey, everything seems ridiculously priced to an old geezer attempting to "get by" on a less than adequate pension!
How do you find the time to dig up all these videos? I'm guessing you have a paid staff... or some of your legion of fans are reporting these things to you out of sheer admiration?
Anyway, if I owned this "board"/Site... you would be compensated for keeping things interesting, my friend!

I have one in emerald green. There is nothing mechanical, just holes like a recorder. Intonation can be tricky, and it takes practice to get a feel for half-covering holes for sharps/flats and bending notes. But it is fun and very easy to carry around. As for the price, $75.00 for the molded models seems a bit steep, but the material is high quality, not thin plastic tubing. The finish is very nice. So for a product that is surely limited in potential customers, I don't think the price is unrealistic.
Good to know. As a child, I had a black plastic "flute" we used in our music classes at school. Not a true flute because it had a rectangular shaped mouthpiece to force blown air over the flute's main orifice. I loved that thing and would play it for hours on end. Can't remember the name of the manufacturer or find one on-line. Sad!
In elementary school I had the white Flutophone with red mouthpiece. Some kids (not me, mind you) but some kids used to stuff a tissue in the mouthpiece so they didn't have to be heard playing wrong notes. Things backfired for them when the teacher asked for a solo.

We got gifts from some of our regular restaurant customers at Christmas. I got a musical tie that actually plays except, for the sharps and flats. Wore it at our NY Eve gig and had a lot of fun with it.
Hi again WDMc: (Do you have a preferred name, title or moniker?)
It was neither of the instruments you posted. This thing actually was played "sideways" like a real flute... mouthpiece excepted! Thanks for trying, though.
I'm glad Jerry knew the answer to the Humanatone... I was about to guess something a bit crude! LOL!

Actually my name is Dave as well. And I do remember the ‘flute’ you’re talking about but have had zero luck in finding a reference to it so far. But I’ll keep trying. 😉

I had thought of that one as well. However, Dave (the boxed rice meal one, not me) is referring to an instrument that is held off the the right side of your head like a real flute. Still looking.
You are 100% correct. It was not a Tonette. Thanks for trying but don't spend too much time 'cause I've looked and used most available search engines without success. I would sure love to have one again just to see if my memory cells and muscle memory still work in that direction. (Something I can take with me to the nursing home when they drag me away... LOL!)
