A computer repair man, I friend of mine, could not repair my Kn7000. The keys are not sending a message to the main part of the keyboard. Everything else works well. Some friends here on SZ have given me the name of keyboard repair men, I’ll do that next.

Another suggestion I received was to midi the keyboard with a controller to isolate the problem. I tried it, I can play the kn7000 sounds.

My question before buying: Which would be the best to use, a midi controller or an arranger keyboard?

I’m not giving up yet, John C.

John, using a midi keyboard will let you keep the KN7000 board and all the thing you love about it , and you can look around to find a midi controller to suit your likes, as in size , keyboard touch and how many knobs and dials.

BUT, there lies the rub, you have an extra keyboard to contend with, and you need a double stand to hold it.

If you can find another KN7000, that works well and is in the right price range and condition, I would rather think that would be the best bet. Then your current 'board would become spares for a future redundancy situation.

Anyway, I hope it turns out to be an easy and cheap fix for your current KN7000, although age is an unkind master to all.

Did you look for a keyboard repairman, as well as a computer man? I took mine to an authorized Technics repair shop in Ft.Myers. At least a person like this knows the workings of it? I know they are not presently authorized, but------
