The most negative thing I hear in pro circles is that the Genos is too large for every day gigging & transport.. "real pros" have steady bookings (longer duration then one nighters) or if a "real pro" has one nighters they can afford roadies. Genos weight(28lbs 11 ounces) isn't even close to being a factor!! Fran I don't know what level you are talking about when you say "real pros" I haven't seen a solo or band with the exception of one for a very short time do back to back gigs in the same place. Its like owners feel its against all the rules of business to do it. Then again I haven't seen any "real pros" using arrangers. I know of Uncle Dave and Don but they are very rare exceptions. One friend of mine uses a Yamaha for drums, thats it. He plays LH bass and RH piano. His wife kills it on the Keytar, another misunderstood unpopular instrument, and they both sing pretty well.

Fran, I think Donny has gotten weak since he is the semi-retirement status. He recently complained about the weight of a mic that weighs less than a pound, the Samson Q8x. A 28-pound arranger keyboard would have been a real blessing back when I was lugging a 52-pound PSR-7500 around, and hefting 100-pound speakers onto a refrigerator dolly. As for OMB pros, they seem to be relegated to the senior circuit in my part of the world. There are still a few OMB entertainers in Baltimore's Little Italy, and most perform just on weekends. Jobs such as Don Mason enjoys are as rare as hen's teeth anymore. Seems as if Duos and trios are getting the better jobs these days, but they too are mostly limited to weekends. All the best, Gary
