Fran, I think Donny has gotten weak since he is the semi-retirement status. He recently complained about the weight of a mic that weighs less than a pound, the Samson Q8x. A 28-pound arranger keyboard would have been a real blessing back when I was lugging a 52-pound PSR-7500 around, and hefting 100-pound speakers onto a refrigerator dolly.

As for OMB pros, they seem to be relegated to the senior circuit in my part of the world. There are still a few OMB entertainers in Baltimore's Little Italy, and most perform just on weekends. Jobs such as Don Mason enjoys are as rare as hen's teeth anymore. Seems as if Duos and trios are getting the better jobs these days, but they too are mostly limited to weekends.

All the best,

Gary cool

Bill, I am mocking the real pros stigma.

Thanks Bill, and I'm proud to be in the company of our Country Gentleman, Don Mason!
I've been blessed to always have back to back nights in steady venues. Just celebrated my 2nd anniversary at my current spot - 4 nights a week
Very soon, I'll be back in my Summer mode with Monday-Tuesday for 12 weeks or so ... for the UMTHteenth year. (22, I think?)
Whatever the numbers ... I'm grateful for the work, and hopeful that it continues!

Good for you. When you make those connections its a blessing. I had some like that back in the day and really enjoyed them. You get to know regular customers and their favorites and you feel comfortable with the staff and mgt. You always do your best but don't feel you have to prove yourself every night.

Fran
Sorry I misread the sarcasm but the facts I listed are sadly true. And everybody is going super light, even the young guys.
BTW my old G1000 was 30 lbs wasn't it ? Add the hardshell case and it was a load. Love my BK9 and soft Gator case.

Bill, the G1000 is just over 40 pounds,,, but with a wheeled Gator case and extras... close to 80 pounds.

I have no trouble transporting the Genos or the Pa4x. I did feel like I was wrestling with a bear when I used the G70 some years ago, that was a heavy board but not the Genos.

And now weight is no longer an issue, they are complaining about the size

For some there is allways a reason to complain about the competition..
Or about a keyboard they cannot afford..

In the end its simple, enjoy making music... thats all that counts tobe happy..
Espescially in this age where bad instruments are non existant..

The Genos is featherlight... so setting it up is not an issue..
if it doesn’t fit in your car, someone bought the wrong car.
