I have had my kn5000 for app 7years & have a hard disc fitted which contains hundreds of midifiles and technics seqences. Unfortunately it is now malfunctioning-ie on startup the autmatic accompaniments will not start. The appropriate timing lights flash but no accompaniments will play. This is sometimes (but not always) cured by turning the instument off and on again. Initializing seems to make no difference and I am sure the problem is not with the start/stop switch.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and, if so what was the cure? i would be grateful for any advice.

You say you have hundreds of files on your hard drive, what size is the hard drive? If it's only 80GB and you have lots of midi files on there, it is possible it is, or becoming full. I think I would try saving some of the files to Floppy, then delete these from the hard drive. If the malfunction ceases, that could be your problem.

Worth a try anyway.

Thanks for that but I think you misunderstand the position. We are talking midifiles here-not mp3's. The hard drive is app 2 gigabytes-there are app 2000 midifiles on it and they take up 60.5 megabytes! The Kn 5000 will read up to 1920 files (16 files in each of 120 directories). In view of this I am sure the hard drive is not the problem. The midifiles on it can be played back perfectly.

Correction to previous posting-the hard drive has app 900 midifiles-not 2000! Sorry!
