As an Arranger Keyboard Player what would you say your Micro Niche is ?

A micro niche is a specification within a broader area to segment your audience. ... This means you need to know the niche in which you are working in. Within the area you choose, it is possible to determine micro niches, which are specific areas from a general one.

Chord recognition. How the arranger reacts to one or more keys pressed and released in the designated chord recognition area. This is one of the two defining characteristics of an arranger, the other being style pattern transposition. (You could consider notes added above or below the melody note as a third.)

My other micro niche is rubato styles (similar to Yamaha free play.) A "free play" style can be configured for ANY arranger that has sync stop, or "arranger memory" and a retrigger or autobacking parameter.

With a simple but carefully configured rubato style and MIDI out, you can use the chord recognition fingering on one brand of arranger to drive the style engine on another. This permits a "best of breed" approach.

I use the arranger to do film score roughs. That's it. No live play. No final recordings.

It is the basis for all of my film work, however.

That's the niche I see from my prospective.

As youve probably know I dont play a specific genre of music although most it instrumental I cant really put myself in pidgeon holes.

I am a keyboard player period . The arranger is just part of my tool kit so no I am not niche or micro niche . I use the tool for the job ,

If you use the arranger keyboard professionally you are an entertainer, if you use it in the home then you are a hobbyist, the only other category which is part of the above 2 is the genre of music you play, it’s as simple as that.
