Thanks for the link Fred - looks like an interesting program, but BOY! the download is more than 180MB !!! Dial-up users - forget it It's a program for displaying '3D' pictures from satellites, of virtually anywhere on earth. It's written by some guys in NASA and apparently has extensive Zoom facilities. I haven't fully downloaded yet - just doing it in 'bits' when my PC is idle.....Quote from the site "World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there. Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara.
The following are example images 1. San Jose Convention Center, CA. 2. Urban Area - Washington D.C.

Although it has been many years since I have been to Washington D.C. The arial view showing the Washington Monument is still recognizable & the area along the mall as well....
I have been to San Jose also but nothing in that view looks familiar!
