How long has the SK1 been around? I wonder when a "Mark 2" or "MkII" version might come out (perhaps with newer samples, more sample memory, updated Leslie simulation, etc.??) At each NAMM in the last couple of years, I have checked to see if Hammond had anything new!

The answer is 2014 ,and I sure love mine better than my Nord I had, which is very good, also.

Bernie tell us more please on the SK1..and how you use it.

I use one on all my gigs. I place it on top of either a Nord piano or my old Solton MS-60. I use the ms drums and foot controller for drum breaks. I play left-handed bass most of the time.

Like to have a 2nd unit...more keys. Short of a B-3 this is ideal when you play one-nighters.

I don't dislike the current SK1 at all ... it has a LOT going for it, in a great, lightweight package ... but if I knew a newer model was coming out (it's been 5 years), I'd wait a little longer before considering a purchase .... seems most of the major keyboard makers (such as Yamaha, Nord, Roland, Korg) have an update to a given model line within 5 years or sometimes a little less than 5 years.

Would be interesting to know how it compares, from a user that has used both, to the Nord similar models like Electro 6 Compact . . .

I use mine coupled with my SD40 with 2 settings. One is with SK1 controlling the SD40 styles on LH with SK1 sounds and RH SD40 voices. The other is, at the push of a button, switches to full SK1 with LH accomp. It should be noted that the SK1 has "extra" voices in addition to full organ. I have not delved into them much, as they can't match my SD40.
