For home use:
1-Two Bose S1 Pro about $1,200.
2-One Bose L1 Compact $875 – I have one now.

Am I better off with two Bose L1 compact for my home or two Bose S1 Pro?

John, the Pros would do a fantastic job for you both at home, and for small jobs away from home. A pair or compacts would be overkill.

Good luck on whatever you decide upon,

Sell the Bose Compact, put a hundred or two with it and buy TWO Maui 5's.
Better sound, more bass, more controls, e.q., more inputs, including Bluetooth.

John,
You might to want to consider the DAVE 8XS by LD Systems. LD Systems Dave 8XS
It is more suitable for home studio but you might like the sound so much that you would want to take it to your gigs. I use the white version with my digital piano. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality sound.
