I know it to be a fact. The instrument's playability will improve your skill level.
This is true for me.. My skills are better playing the G70, interaction of keys to sound and the comfort of a more natural response. Compared to the EA7, I can feel and hear the difference when I play each one..

If I play the G70 for any extended time, it is hard to want to play the EA7.

So yes an instrument can and will definitely improve your playing skill.

Thats an odd question..

The expected question would be: will it sound better with your current playing skills..

I have not included Hammond as there is a boat load available.
There have been plenty of classic instruments over the years that have something that is missing on modern instruments; however it is difficult to put into words.

Yamaha's Reface series brings back classic sounds in mini keyboards with speakers even as well as MIDI so they can be played from full sized keyboards.

Reface CP - Electric piano sounds ( plus a hidden acoustic piano patch )
Reface DX - An FM sysnth with improved patch programming UI over the original DX synths
Reface CS - Analog modelling synth

And they are less than $300

Oh, one more that I forgot... Note carefully the SHAPE of the keys! BETTER than Stradella bass on an accordion (or the Axis-49 controllers which came much later.)
