Not sure if the title of the song is "Somebody stole my Girl" or "Somebody stole my gal" I know it's one of those very old songs, and just wondered if anyone has the music (top line and chords) in any of their music books and could spare a copy.

Any other info on this song would also be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards to all

Peter

Hi Peter

Just for information 'Somebody Stole my Gal' was the signature tune for Billy Cotton and his Band, which I'm sure the senior Brit members will recall. . He always started his programme off with a shout of "Wakey, Wakey" followed immediately by a very noisy rendition of the song.........

John

Hi John.
You must have been a very young boy who like me was waiting for his Sunday Roast. If I remember correctly it was after the forces requests programme, 'family favourites'.

Regards

Hi Peter (Bentley I mean)- I must be older than you - I am getting to be older than most people now. I am pretty sure that Billy Cotton also had a show on TV in the Black and White days of TV.

The song has a copyright date of 1924 - but I wasn't around then though!!!

I recall a Kathy Kirby when colour TV was around and I remember she always wore very shiny red lipstick. Was a good singer also - I think Vince Hill was in his early days then too!!! Joan

Hi Peter,

I rembember Billy Cotton well, always used to listen to him both on radio and TV.and his signature tune "Somebody stole my girl"
He also sang a song for children warning them of the danger of crossing the road it went like this:
"A bus or a car has two big eyes to see where it is going, but if you don't use you're own two eye -----" Iforget the rest
