I've forgotten the name of his resident singer, I think his first name was Alan ?

Hi Peter

The resident singer was Alan Melville.

It's the short term memory I have a problem with.....

Woweee!! We really are digging deep here My memory of these times ? Being allowed to stay up 'Late' on Sunday nights, to listen to Grand Hotel - I think it was Max Jaffa ( and his little tangerines ?? ) Another favourite was Semprini Serenade - a wonderful pianist.......
