Hi guys. I know that we can trigger style elements on SD40, SD90 module (intro, variation, fill...) from DAW, sending a Sysex string, but is there any way to trigger those elements sending a bank and program change from a midi keyboard controller?

As you already stated - That can be be done via SysX. The question will be if the MIDI controller you are using will allow you to program the needed SysX strings. So the answer is "Maybe?".

We used to own one but sold it quite a while ago. The Roland A800 allowed you to program sysx and connected via standard MIDI din connections. The trick on the Axx series might be that they only allow one sysx string at a time. Many of the SD90 functions expect a button "push" and "release" as two separate sysx commands. Having said that - We never actually tried the A800 with an SD90. Also, I think one of the Novation Impulse "SLxx" models might allow sysX programming? Never owned one so your mileage may vary!

It is too bad that Ketron does not use PC messages to call up functions. There are not too many midi controllers that will send system exclusive messages. Kurt is right that some of the Navation devices can send SysEx.
