Rikki....I think I told you I also have a PA3x. I haven't used it yet. Are you talking about the battery that makes everything work ("battery backup pack?")? I read that even if you DON'T play it, the battery dies after 3-4 years. I've been thinking about this for a while now.
Hi Mark,
Actually the keyboard will run without the battery, my understanding is, it helps boot it up more quickly. ie with battery , it takes just say 30 seconds to a minute to start up, without takes 2 or 3 minutes. Basically a lot longer.
My keyboard is still working. I was also told over on Korg forum to take battery out, and to switch off “memory switch “( something to do with samples which I don’t use anyway)
Apparently these packs are no longer available here, but, they can be made by someone with a bit of electronics ability, they’re just a bunch of rechargeables, with soldering involved. My dealer suggested going to a place where they specialise in batteries and ask if they can do it.
The more difficult issue with mine happened last year. The screen surround and the area around the joystick, developed what I decided to call “sticky plastic syndrome”.
I was planning on selling my PA 3X, went on a weeks holiday, came home and happened to touch the screen surround , and it was tacky. Still works normally, just this weird tacky surface Happened to a USB soundcard of mine too.
Found a few more people it has happened to over on Korg forums. Seems to be from more humid areas?
Might be worth checking out,
