See if the Yamaha "Smart Pianist" app supports the 900, please. It's a very cool song/rhythm player, when used with compatible keyboards. (like my P-121)
I'm curious if the app recognizes this new entry. Rikki, anyone?

Hi Dave, sorry I can’t. I haven’t had any luck yet connecting my P121 to Smart pianist yet. I’ve been meaning to ask what type of cable are you actually using?

I bought a lightning to USB camera adapter from eBay ( but its generic) so hoping it might be the problem.
Went to one of the local Apple product sellers and asked about one, he said won’t work. Didn’t want to pay $50 and find out wouldn’t work.
Hoping he is wrong.

I had to follow the connection process a few times before it took also. I use a generic adapter, and it seems that once it's recognized, the power up order is ipad-app-piano. Seems to work for me that way. Thanks for checking.

I’ll give it another few tries. Might try testing it with USB stick, gather that’s what they’re for to download photos from iPad. Just in case mine really is faulty.

Hi Dave, got it to work on p121, I think my cable is slightly dodgy, cut out on me a few times.
Next I’ll see how I go with the sx.

don’t think so, it’s not one of the apps mentioned the sx Yamaha site, think it only works with an assortment of pianos.

I plugged it in , just to try it, but no luck.

I will be replacing my lightning adapter because I’m pretty sure it’s faulty, it drops in and out.

I’ll give it another try when I get my new one, but I don’t think the app will work with the sx900.

Some of the others sound interesting though, chord tracker . No idea what it does yet.

Update . I got it to recognise the sx, came up with Warning, this instrument is not supported.

So unfortunately no.

Awesome, thanks Rikki. The chord tracker is amazing, and works very well ( not 100%, but close)
You go to song mode, and choose a song from your own library. I use my itunes playlists
choose a song, and the app analyzes the chords, and scrolls them for you, in real time, as it plays the track/song.

Btw my generic lightning to USB was faulty , kept dropping in and out, Popped out and bought an Apple one this morning , seems to be working perfectly .
That piano room etc is great.
