Hi,

Last night I tried to hook up my Technics P50 keyboard to the KN901. It will play notes on the KN, but the auto accompanyment does not work (i.e. if I play a chord on the P50 it does not initiate the accompanyment on the KN).

Do I have to change some settings to get this to work, or is this not possible ?

I like all the features on the KN901, but I would much prefer to be able to play my 88-note keyboard with a real piano feel!

Thanks,
Steve.

The midi-connection usually needs some settings
to be done on each unit.
I'm not familiar too your equipment, but if you
take a trip to www.tecnote.com , and post your
question at the forum, I'm sure someone know
what you should do to make it work.
Technote is totally free, but you have to register
just as you have on this forum.

Btw, maybe there is some info in your manuals
who might help a litle?

Do you have the SX-P50 Technics Piano - and if so do you like it??? - Here in Alaska there was not a Technics dealer and I ended up going with the Roland FP-3 which I really like also - but the web demos on the P50 were pretty impressive.

I really like it (feel, sound, etc.). I tried Roland, Yamaha, Kawai and at least for me, I found it had the best combination of feel and grand piano sound.

I can't understand why so many people are insane about the Yamaha P80; they had one in the repair shop and there is no hammers in it whatsoever; just a bunch of rods!!

Well,

I solved the problem myself (and how have a real piano feel with the full capabilities of a synth!). Best of both worlds!

Midi settings solution that I figured out:

1) Piano -> KN 901 with APC

2) Set the chord auto accompanyment to receive on channel 1 (P50 set to send out on channel 1).

The Technics P-50 is has a wonderful touch. I've tried the the Yamaha and Roland models and find Technics to be the best - Hands down
