Hi Folks.
Has anyone saved to floppy, styles/voices,of their own choice.and then want a backup copy.I load and save each file
to another floppy,a bit long winded this way.At times I have 12 files one a floppy.
Can disk copy be done on computer?,and if so can anyone tell me how!!

Put the diskette in your PC's floppydrive.
Right click the floppydrive icon in "My
Computer" and choose "copy", then insert
a empty diskette when asked for.
Or
copy the files from the diskette into a
folder on your PC and copy and paste back
into a new empty diskette.

Both solutions should work OK.

You could create a master folder on your PC hard drive, called "Technics Backups" and then within that folder, create another series of folders - one for each of your floppy discs. Then copy each of your floppy discs to it's own folder. This way, you can just copy them back to a floppy if and when needed and you won't need lots of extra floppy discs.
If you wish to save a little space on your PC hard drive, you could ZIP the files.

Thanks for this information on floppies. I also have always used a MASTER floppy for my own settings etc. but have to admit I didn't think to save them to PC - great idea that.

Mind you, life has been much easier since being able to use the SD card. In fact one of the first things I did was buy a card with a larger memory and copy all my floppies to it, but I like the idea of the PC because it will make it so much easier to go to the setting(s) I am looking for.

However, I would like to know if it is possible to say shuffle the files around, save to a new disk and then load into the KN7. I cannot think of any reason why this would not work but perhaps I'm wrong. Be interesting to know though.

Hi Audrey,

Just a thought; does your PC have a CD burner? If so you could keep an updated version of all your styles, etc. on a CD-RW so that if you should suffer a computer hitch(!) you've still got a copy of what you might have lost. A standard CD-RW holds 700Mb; thats appx 14,000 saved Technics song files or an even greater amount of styles.

As above, just a thought.

Good tip from Michie - I forgot to add that to my last post - I do just that
As far as doing a 'Mix and Match' extraction of your styles from PC or CD, of course you are quite correct - it's just a case of copying and pasting from the source to a blank floppy. Just remember to copy all the individual parts of a song
