Hello fellows,
As you may know I got Juno DS a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, sensitivity of one or two keys became too soft, so I took it to a service and now it’s there. Also, my PSR-S950 is there, too, as it had problems with a pitch bend and some buttons. It has been there for 2 months already, and they wait for parts to come. It’s like I had new Juno DS and PSR-S950 for a moment and now I’m stucked with my old PSR-3000 (and MM6 in a corner).
At first I was bored with PSR-3000, but then I tried to play something in an orchestra manner. I still use styles, but without drums, and I revoiced a bass part of a style to strings. Also I added tremolo strings to a left part and its volume is controlled by a pedal.
Somehow I have a feeling that going back to PSR-3000 helped me to rethink something. Well, it’s a simple story when you have fewer things and as a result more space to be creative.
It's good to think outside the box sometimes, when it comes to sounds also work your way through your sound catagories. Even those that you think you'd never use. If you layer them with something else you might end up with some great combinations.

WOW! Incredible song. I have always said the PSR-3000 was a real workhorse arranger keyboard and mine served me very well for a decade before I upgraded to the S-950. Both of my 3000s are still in use today.

Thank you. I guess I can call it mine. Lately I tend to improvise more. I used to have a priority to compose a certain songs, but now I start to think that maybe improvisation is more, well, sincere, and if it's about some background music, it should be like something unprepared, otherwise it's just too heavy.

Excellent use of the old workhorse! inspires me to head for the studio and forget about upgrades!

Kabinopus absolutely amazing as always ... I can only imagine what you would do playing the KINO Strings on a Genos using the FREEPlay Styles.... Thank you for sharing well done Bravo my friend!

Thank you, Donny. My prognoses about it is rather unsure. Starting with some entry-level Yamaha's arrangers I mostly used a plain "slow strings" sound. PSR-3000 introduced "Live!" strings to me but I never managed to like them. Then there were "S.Art!" strings on PSR-S950, I was impressed at first, but then I went to a "legacy" folder, found the same "Slow Strings" and used mostly them. Didn't have much luck with Free-play style on S950 either.
In the same time I can't help thinking that as long as there is a financial option for it, Genos is probably a practical choice after all - having so many high quality sounds and styles in one machine must help a lot with staying in a process and to think more about music and less about equipment.

Hi Sergey That was great. Thanks for sharing. Love those melancholic Harmonies and Melody. It reminds my a bit of the old Russian composers ... Well done Eric
This one has "MovieBallad" style, "Jungle Drums" multi pad and FrenchHorns voice.
I was about to play improvisation, but it came out as something more specific, don't know what exactly.
As you can judge by headphones, it's a nighttime here :-)
Wow, that is lovely too. Thank you. I really enjoy listening to movie soundtracks, ie John Barry, Vangelis etc. This recording has that type of feel about it, it should have a movie to go with it. Haha

Kabinopus ... Admittedly, knowing you are from Russia influenced my thinking, but listening to your first work, I couldn't help but imagine Lara and Dr. Zhivago, each alone, in various scenes - walking through Moscow, standing by their windows looking at the falling snow, laying in bed alone, each wondering what the other was doing at that moment ... Thank you for musically taking me on that journey ...

Thank you guys for listening and leaving comments,
Now I tried to do something more contemporary. Edited a lot a factory style, tuned some filters and harmonics... Now I see that some frequencies conflict with each other...
I'll share this one anyway, maybe you'll find it interesting. I used portamento for FrenchHorns :-)
I guess that what we really need from TOTL arranges is audio-via-usb with 16 separate channels, but it does sound tricky, doesn't it?
As we can learn from modern movies/TV-shows, today's soundtracks are rather discreet, they help to stay involved, but do not steal your attention from events.
Obviously, arranger keyboards are primarily designed to perform songs, and keyboards like Montage are supposed to be a better fit.
In the same time even when it somes to soundtrack type of music, I still find it more suitable for me to play along with a style if I want to make up some music, it just keeps you inspired.

Your imagination is rather rich :-) No pictures of these characters in my mind, but maybe I should get more familiar with the story :-)
The internet tought me that it's hard to get people to listen to your music other than with YouTube videos - and just like in a restaurant, on YouTube there're songs that are likely to become popular no matter how many there are versions of it already, and some stuff is likely to stay unpopular, even if it's nicely done. One musician I know is a rather wealthy person and a good musician, but his videos, even if he pays for them big $$$, aren't really popular. Some my home-made covers have more views. In the same time I'm yet to get a thousand subscribers, with is a very small number for YouTube, but I know that I'm not really fighting for them.
Now I have sort of a system which allows me to make videos rather quickly, so if I'm about to make a recording for myself I may as well make it as a video.
Today I happened to make one more recording in an orchestra style, without drums. It was not supposed to be about Christmas, but with these twinkle sounds it's hard not to name it as if it was :-)
Kabinopus another masterpiece you are truly a maestro

Hello Donny;
My setup is mostly based on what I happen to have but not on what I want to have :-) For this reason I still can't make HD videos.
But basics are:
Video is recorded with digital cameras. Cason IXUS 860 and Panasonic DMC-FZ50. Canon gives a much better picture.
The sound is recorded separately on a computer with Magix Samplitude. I also apply "normalisation" to it with Sound Forge software.
Then I have 3 files to work with in Adobe Premiere (I use an old one - Pro 2.0 as my computer is rather modest as well). I have to synchronise all files looking at their audio waves.
Then I export a video file, and then I have to compress the file again using one more program, as it is usually too large after Premiere.
I believe that with modern equipment and software it can be rather different. All I can say that it took me some time to get adjusted to Premiere. I used MovieMaker for a long time but if you want to use multiple cameras it won't be very useful.
Kabinopus....thank you for your interesting informative answer. But in today's day of high technology there must be an all in one EASY way to record yourself in high quality video & stereo sound also...correct?...I love to record..... but not so keen on doing videos, but interested in knowing how to if the need arises.
