Hello fellows,
As you may know I got Juno DS a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, sensitivity of one or two keys became too soft, so I took it to a service and now it’s there. Also, my PSR-S950 is there, too, as it had problems with a pitch bend and some buttons. It has been there for 2 months already, and they wait for parts to come. It’s like I had new Juno DS and PSR-S950 for a moment and now I’m stucked with my old PSR-3000 (and MM6 in a corner).
At first I was bored with PSR-3000, but then I tried to play something in an orchestra manner. I still use styles, but without drums, and I revoiced a bass part of a style to strings. Also I added tremolo strings to a left part and its volume is controlled by a pedal.
Somehow I have a feeling that going back to PSR-3000 helped me to rethink something. Well, it’s a simple story when you have fewer things and as a result more space to be creative.
It's good to think outside the box sometimes, when it comes to sounds also work your way through your sound catagories. Even those that you think you'd never use. If you layer them with something else you might end up with some great combinations.

WOW! Incredible song. I have always said the PSR-3000 was a real workhorse arranger keyboard and mine served me very well for a decade before I upgraded to the S-950. Both of my 3000s are still in use today.

Thank you. I guess I can call it mine. Lately I tend to improvise more. I used to have a priority to compose a certain songs, but now I start to think that maybe improvisation is more, well, sincere, and if it's about some background music, it should be like something unprepared, otherwise it's just too heavy.

Excellent use of the old workhorse! inspires me to head for the studio and forget about upgrades!

Thank you, Donny. My prognoses about it is rather unsure. Starting with some entry-level Yamaha's arrangers I mostly used a plain "slow strings" sound. PSR-3000 introduced "Live!" strings to me but I never managed to like them. Then there were "S.Art!" strings on PSR-S950, I was impressed at first, but then I went to a "legacy" folder, found the same "Slow Strings" and used mostly them. Didn't have much luck with Free-play style on S950 either.
In the same time I can't help thinking that as long as there is a financial option for it, Genos is probably a practical choice after all - having so many high quality sounds and styles in one machine must help a lot with staying in a process and to think more about music and less about equipment.
