As there will be some members maybe getting a new to them Tyros I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on transforming a flat sounding registration to a great sounding one.

What I've found is even when going from Yamaha to Yamaha or Roland to Roland, instead of importing your old registrations, it sounds better if you re-create them with similar styles and one-touch settings that are "native" to the new board.

Why? The "new" styles and OTS are already optimized with MFX, EQ, and perhaps include new features like MegaVoices, Guitar mode tracks, Audio styles, etc.

For me, part of the fun of a new board is exploring the content. It might inspire me to practice more, or even learn a new song. My $.02. Obviously if you're a pro and you need to get the new board ready for your usual gig, your needs would be different.
