It wasn't all that long ago that Donny pointed out here an offer by Acoustica in which they offered their Mixcraft 8 at only half price. I purchased the Mixcraft 8 Pro at 75 bucks and have been very pleased with my purchase.
Today they announced the brand new Mixcraft 9 and 9 Pro. I managed to update to Pro 9 for approx. 30 bucks which I think is great. But even the basic Mixcraft 9 version is an incredible bang for the buck imho. Apart from all of its DAW fucntions and there are zillions , they add a number of VST modules to it as well, over twenty in the Pro version, including piano module, mini-moog module etc.etc.
Do give it a look :

regards,
John

Really wonder, do I need another DAW? It's priced right but is it better than Reaper or Pro Tools?

Here is a video - lots of features to explore. They started including Melodyne in version 8 which is another amazing tool which used to have to be run standalone outside the recorder.

Reaper is as good as anything out there (for the average guy at home) and is only $60. Great community and regular updates too.
