I just use the built in one from Microsoft. Never a problem in several years.

Windows Defender, which is built into the latest versions of Windows 10, does a great job. No need for another unless you are seeking added piece of mind. But it comes with a caveat. The free one usually will have nag screens trying to get you to go to one of the paid versions.

There's many free Antivirus software programs, unfortunately some are only trial versions.

One worth considering is https://www.avira.com/en/free-antivirus-windows.
I have also used AVAST. https://www.avast.com/en-gb/index#pc

Try, as you can test a few and see which of them fits your requirements.

Bitdefender free is pretty good and less intrusive than Avast (which is why I swapped).

Tony, +2 or 3 for Windows Defender. Some of the tech guys that do podcasts are no longer recommending a program like Symantec or MacFee. The key as always exercise caution when opening attachments especially from those you don't know.
