Hi Howard,
Operating the SD 2/SD 1000 sound module in conjunction with the key depends on the requirements you want to use.
First the integration of the sounds into the key.
One of the possibilities is to use the internal sounds of the key and the additional sounds of the SD 2/ SD 1000. The internal sounds are reproduced on Right 1 and the sounds of SD 2/ SD 1000 on Right 2.
Settings must be made so that this is the case and can also be saved.
1. In Midi - Part Setting you set Right 2 to Channel 2, the others to "OFF"
2. So that the internal sound of the key does not resonate, "LOCAL" is set to "OFF".
3. In Midi - Input / Output Setting, "Transpose" must be set to "ON" so that transpose changes are also accepted.
4. Under Midi - Common Setting, "Program Change to Panel Memory" must be set to "ON" so that the different sounds of the SD 2 can later be called up via Panel Memory.
In order not to make these settings again and again, you create a "User Setting" on page 4/4 with Midi - Midi Presets and save this UserSetting like a song. If you play without the SD 2/SD 1000, everything stays the same. If you play with SD 2, you call up the corresponding user setting on page 3/4 and have the saved settings ready.
To have a sense of achievement, here is an option:
After the connection, as shown in the picture, press the "Program Menus" button between SD 2/SD 1000 and KN 6000/7000. Press "Midi" in the bottom left of the display.
The Midi Menu appears in the display. Press "Input / Output Setting" at the bottom left and make the settings as shown in the picture.
Exit with "Exit" and press "Common Setting" and make the settings as shown in the picture.
